36-Pocket Automatic Tool Changer

This tool changing system is capable of supporting tools ranging from 0.002" - 0.125" in diameter.

The tools are held in a rotating carousel with a robotic arm moving tools between the spindle and the carousel.

The tools are chucked directly into the spindle, eliminating the need for a tool holder.

Chucking tools directly into the spindle reduces cost (there's no need to purchase tool holders) and removes an interface from the system, thereby reducing the total internal runout.

The rotating tool carousel can be easily removed and replaced resulting in a quick-change tool magazine system for easy expansion. In a situation where the machine is being utilized for multiple applications, each application can have its own tool carousel, leading to quick transitions between setups.

A tool tip sensor (laser occlusion based sensor) automatically detects tool length and diameter.

Palletized Workholding System

The Microlution 363-S is available with quick change palletized workholding

One of the options is the Erowa workholding system.

Advantages of utilizing a palletized system:

Rapid In-process Inspection:
This capability allows a machining operation to be interrupted, the workpiece to be removed, inspected, and replaced without the need to re-register the part.

Multiple Applications:
In a situation where the machine is being used for multiple applications, each application can have its own set of pallets. This enables easy transition from one application to the next without losing specific part registrations.

Production Setting:
In a mid to high volume operation, multiple pallets can be set-up with the same fixture. This allows the machine operator to fixture the next workpiece while the machine is running.
